24hr Fitness - you can join and add services online which is great and convenient. However, when you no longer desire to be a part of their gym, you can not cancel your membership online and must contact them thru their over the phone customer service number.

You also must give 30-days notice and can only cancel over the phone thru customer service which places you on hold indefinitely so you can obviously not speak to anyone about canceling your membership and therefore your 30-day notice continually is delayed. This is the fraud they everyone talks about...be very wary!!!

They will continue to collect membership fess, you end up having to cancel you credit card in order to stop them from charging the credit card that they require when you conveniently join online...Join somewhere else!! This is HORRIBLE!!!!!!

Monetary Loss: $100.

Have them Terminate Your Membership.

Go in, tell a manager that you plan on discussing the less-than-legal aspects of their contract with other customers in the gym, and insist on receiving a Membership Termination by 24hour fitness, either with or without cause, it doesn't matter. They CAN do this at the location, regardless of what they tell you, check under Termination - Cancellation - Refund in your contract.

You are ALSO entitled to a full refund (that means last month's membership fee and a prorated amount as calculated by the remaining number of days left that you prepaid for).

You can call customer support for this too, but be prepared to be put on hold for a while as they try to discourage you from insisting on a full, LEGAL refund. And INSIST ON THE FULL REFUND, they'll also try to say you're entitled to less or even none at all. This is not true.

You should tell them you are legally entitled to take them to small claims court, where they will ALSO have to reimburse you the cost of taking them court. It will work out, you just have to HOLD YOUR GROUND AND DON'T ACCEPT LESS THAN A FULL REFUND AND IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.

I had the same pleasant experience that someone answered the phone and agreed to cancel my membership. However, I am continually charged each month.

Don't let the politeness fool you. Check your bank statements!

Thats very strange, because I just called 24 hr fitness cancellation line at 1-86*-***-**** to cancel my membership after 7 years with them. They answered immediately.

They were polite. They offered to have my account to be put on hold instead & I declined. They cancelled it fast. They then told me that my auto-draw payment would go through its normal cycle when it was due in 11 days, but that 30 days after that I would receive a refund for a little more than half of my monthly fee.My friend taught me a long time ago that if you get poor customer service over the phone, politely hang-up and call back another time to talk to someone different.

Keep calling till you get the result you want & be nice!! You can attract more bees with honey.

90% of the time it works. Most of the times you are dealing with personalities, not the company itself.

I am sorry Andream24 but you have posted the same thing for every single post, and in reality you do not even get back to most of the people who emailed you. 24 Hour Fitness is as greedy as it can be.

Andrea - I have a similar complaint, different person (Member LX22565). My wife was on a visit to her home in Japan when a serious medical situation kept her from returning to the US.

I contacted 24 hour (Clackamas Super Sport)to have her membership put on hold for $9.00 a month until she returned.

Thatwas OK for four months, then, without any notice her account was taken off hold and she was charged the full $42.99 per month WHILE SHE WAS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL IN JAPAN! She could not check her account and I had no access to her credit information to show that 24 Hour was putting the screws to her while she was helpless. She recently returned from Japan, but is scheduled to return for medical reasons this month.

Today she went to Clackamas to make sure her membership was cancelled and was shown her billing information with six months of $42.99 charges, plus she was forced to pay an extra $42.99 just to cancel - for a total of $300.93 in unapproved payments to her debit card. When she questioned these bogus charges today she was given a bunch of contract mumbo jumbo that, simply steted, means that 24 Hour can screw with your bank account in any way it wants to.

I believe 24 Hour Fitness will do the right thing and voluntarily refund her money. Thank you.
